My life's journey has been a colorful mosaic of roles – from a small animal veterinarian, a friend to many a furry companion, to spinning yarns in the genre of eco-fiction often with science fiction or fantasy themes.
It's been a wild ride, with a common thread:
A profound love for animals and nature.
But my story doesn't stop there. At its core, my life is anchored in a profound and sacred purpose:
To inspire humanity to experience the sacred interconnectedness of all life on this beautiful planet.
This conviction deeply infuses my work with Porpoise Publishing. My ultimate vision:
To inspire joyful lifelong readers as well as conscientious guardians of our magnificent Earth (especially among those in the 10-18 age range).
That vision guided me to write the Zak Bates Eco-Adventure series and most recently the young adult spinoff, Rainforest Shaman.
My Combo Career
Beyond the world of eco-fiction, or cli-fi as it's affectionately known, I’ve taken on another thrilling quest – empowering aspiring authors to transform their 'one-day' dreams of writing into the reality of today. Through my boutique Write on Purpose Coaching Practice, I bring these dreams to life, ensuring they blossom into a lasting legacy for generations to come. It has been the perfect blending of my over 30 years as a professional writer with my 3 decades of personal development coaching which began in 1988.
In fact, my dedication to personal development has been a lifelong journey, deeply intertwined with my professional and creative paths. I've been involved with the international personal development enterprise, Landmark Worldwide, for over thirty years (where I met my soulmate, Ann, now my wife of over thirty years. Do you hear a theme?) My experiences there, both as a program leader in the past and as a regular participant, have profoundly shaped my coaching approach. It's personal development at its core, aimed at nurturing not just skills but the whole individual. This philosophy is the heartbeat of my Write on Purpose perspective coaching, where we journey together toward self-discovery and actualization.
